Sources said they called off the indefinite hunger strike after a group of Dhaka University teachers assured them about their demand.
The admission seekers also threatened that they would start hunger strike again if the university authority does not fulfill their demand by November 24, 2014.
However, 24 DU teachers, including MM Akash, Professor of the department of Economics and Fahmidul Haque, Professor of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism; said the admission seekers that they would apply to the DU Vice-Chancellor seeking permission to appear in the second-time the admission test.
A group of DU admission seekers enforced the program of hunger strike unto death upholding the demand of getting chance to sit for the varsity's admission test for the second time at the Central Shaheed Minar premises.
The protesters continued the fast that began on on November 12, 2014 at noon. Moreover, at least seven students of them became sick till November 16, 2014.
Eminent lawyer Dr. Kamal Hossain and ex-DUCSU VP Mahmudur Rahman Manna expressed their solidarity to the protesters.
Earlier on October 14, Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor after a meeting with the admission committee announced that they will not allow the students to sit for the admission test for second time from the next year.
